5.3 Motor-driven spindle pumps
                                 



In motor-driven spindle pumps the hydraulic or pneumatic piston drive is replaced by an electric geared motor. Depending on the target pressure and desired flow rate, the high-pressure piston is driven with a threaded spindle designed for this purpose. Both recirculating ball screws and trapezoid spindles can be used. While the trapezoid spindles are relatively inexpensive, however, the use of recirculating ball screws is frequently more advantage ous since the efficiency of trapezoid spindles is considerably worse due to structural factors.

Furthermore, the transmission of the gear and torque-power behaviour of the motor have an influence on the performance of the spindle pump. Depending on the application case, three-phase a.c., direct current or stepping motors / servomotors are installed.

The pumps can be equipped with two high-pressure cylinders per drive.
